the e from the big e logo with the words educate, empower, empathise, and engage around it.

Hello and welcome to The Big e and the launch of our new services!

I created The Big e because I recognised that children with special educational needs and disabilities were not having their needs identified and therefore they were not receiving the provision required for them to achieve. Over the years, I’ve connected with so many organisations and individuals providing excellent services. I want to ensure our parents / carers also connect with them to access the information they need to make an informed choice.

So, What’s The Big e?

The Big e has nothing to do with grammar. When we write it in text, we want continuity with our logo. Yes, the “e” is lowercase but it is the biggest part in our logo. Why, because we look at what the “e” represents and it’s impact. What do we want to challenge and amplify.  The “e” can mean different things to different people throughout their SEND journey. We’ve identified our top four areas that we will consistently champion throughout our work.

  1. Educate – parents/carers, young people and  professionals with information and resources. This can be in the form of remote 1:1 tuition service (for those that cannot attend school/college) and events.

  2. Empower – children, young people and parents/carers to navigate through the education system with support and amplifying the voices of the unheard.

  3. Engage – with a range of professionals nationally and internationally so that we can share the information with those that need it most using various platforms.

  4. Empathise – with all parents/carers who are trying make sense of the education system which can be complicated when it is not inclusive.

We view all our cases through an intersectional lens, recognizing that intersectionality is a structure for recognising a person, group of people, or social problem who are affected by a number of social justice discriminations and disadvantages.
